SOUTHERN INDEPENDENCE ASSOCIATION
Volunteers and Positions
The Southern Independence Association has positions available for committed individuals that want to be involved helping promote individual and states' constitutional rights, protect our Confederate history and heritage, and endeavor to educate our children. We encourage all Southern men and women to be a volunteer, get involved and take back our state's sovereignty.

Southern Independence Association Officers and Duties

Chairman of the Board
Oversees the different departments on the national level which is established by the Board of Directors. Speaks for the Board of Directors on all issues dealing with the association. Oversees meetings on the national level and may call on state directors to convene a state meeting. May delegate authority to other officers after a confirmation vote of approval by the Board of Directors.
Board of Directors
Consists of 12 members that convene at least every 30 days, and are available to discuss heritage defense, education, political advocacy, fundraising, events, and membership.
Regional Executive Directors
Oversees the different operations of the region of which states are assigned by the board. Communicates the needs of states in the appointed region. Implements mission, goals, and initiatives of the association mission statement and the SIA board of directors. Is responsible for providing support and opportunities for state SIA chapters to be successful.

Treasurer Special Notes: (Still in Progress)
Responsible for maintaining the funds procured by the association by means of collecting dues, fundraisers, donations, etc. Funds may not be spent without board approval unless placed in a designated fund, approved by the board. This should be the same process for state funds collected by fundraisers, donations, sales at the state level and approved by state officers
State Executive Director
In charge of all operations in their respective states: social media, public relations, heritage defense, education, advocacy, fundraising, event planning, and membership drives.

SIA STATE OFFICERS JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND DUTIES
(IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER OF IMPORTANCE)
1. Deputy/Assistant Executive Director
-
Supports the Executive Director and can take on high-level duties when requested.

2. Political Advocacy Director
-
Manages relationships with elected officials, candidates, and political allies.

Leads issue campaigns, lobbying efforts, and endorsements.
3. Field Director
-
Oversees grassroots organizing, volunteer recruitment, and mobilization.

Coordinates local chapter activities and events.

Coordinates with Safety Director
4. Communications Director
-
Manages media strategy, public messaging, social media, and press relations.

Prepares talking points and trains spokespeople.
5. Asst Political Advocacy Director
-
Researches legislation, develops policy positions for approval of the board, and drafts official statements for approval of the board.

Works with the Political Director on issue-based advocacy.
6. Fundraising Director (State)

Plans and executes fundraising campaigns.

Builds relationships with donors and grantmakers.
7. Administrative Secretary
-
Manages/Assists the day-to-day operations of the State Executive Director: HR, office logistics, scheduling, and internal policies.
8. Finance Director / Treasurer (State)

Oversees the budget, financial reporting, and compliance with campaign finance laws.

Must be Bonded to receive or accept fees or funds collected or expended.

Two signatures or approvals shall be required for all transactions.
9. Legal Counsel (in-house or contracted)

Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.

Reviews legal risks, contracts, and policies.
10. Digital Director
Position under Commander

Leads online strategy, web presence, email campaigns, and digital advertising.

11. Safety Officer/Director
-
Responsible for ensuring members comply with SIA safety guidelines and code of conduct when participating at meetings, rallies, festivals, assemblies, and protests.

Monitors SIA code of conduct

Promotes and Maintains positive relations and communication with law enforcement

Seeks safety assistance from other groups when necessary

Provides assistance for all departments, members, and leadership when requested

Organizes and recruits guards and safety officers for each event, (meetings, Rallies, festivals, assemblies, and protests.)
